The trend today is that healthcare is dramatically shifting towards a pro-wellness and illness-prevention approach rather than the disease control system that has so adamantly defined modern medicine.

Holistic health upholds that all aspects of people's needs, psychological, physical and social should be taken into account and seen as a whole. In alternative medicine, it is believed that disease is a result of physical, emotional, spiritual, social and environmental imbalance.

I was also Founder, Director and Faculty of a Maine Licensed Proprietary School providing APTA approved certification trainings for APP and RPP levels of Polarity Therapy, all levels of Reiki and a variety of personal enrichment classes for the central Maine community.

A brief overview of the main healing modalities of my healing arts practice:

Polarity Therapy considered to be "one of the most comprehensive healing arts available," combines a variety of techniques (energy-based bodywork, hand and foot reflexology, lymphatic balance, acupressure points, chakra clearing, cranial-sacral techniques, nutrition, polarity yoga and the importance of attitude) to resolve limiting energy patterns and to re-establish the flow of energy we often lose to the stress and tensions of daily living.

Cranial-Sacral Therapy relieves restrictions in the tissues and fluids that surround the brain and spinal cord, allowing the nervous system to self-regulate.

Reiki is a Japanese technique of "laying-on-of hands" that promotes natural healing.

Conscious Breathing induces profound changes in one’s health and wellness. It reduces stress, tension and fatigue, stabilizes blood pressure and restores mindfulness, energy, focus and spirit.

Affirmations & Visualization reprogram the brain and the body to provide a fresh perspective and pave the way for success in health and all aspects of life.

A natural blend of techniques promotes deep relaxation, stress and pain relief, increased energy, renewed vitality and new insight. Each session is unique to every individual. Since the human body and mind house a core resource of energy that fuels our vast capacity for renewal, positive change and optimal wellbeing are available and achievable for all who desire and are willing to work for it. By incorporating beneficial lifestyle skills and environmental solutions into daily living, one is able to live a more balanced and healthful life.

 

Alternative medicine methods are diverse in their foundations and methodologies. Although heterogeneous, the major Complimentary Alternative Medicine (CAM) systems have many common characteristics, including:
